Engineering Manager (3D Platform)


HOVER uses patented technology making it possible for anyone with a smartphone camera to create an interactive 3D model, complete with detailed measurements and powerful design features. The data produced is extremely valuable as it generates a single source of truth for the physical world allowing for more veracity throughout the home improvement and insurance processes. HOVER is looking for a strong engineering manager that is interested in shaping the evolution of the 3D Platform that sits at the core of our business. We are integrating complex systems and building novel tools and technology that allow for creative thinking and problem solving to help HOVER scale. 

The 3D Platform Mission is: Organize the world’s physical structure. HOVER is the source of truth for the entire as-built world. 3D Platform is where HOVER’s representation of the world’s physical structure is generated, recorded, archived and re-imagined.

The team  is made up of talented and eager-to-learn engineers with a wide variety of experience across areas like application development, 3D reconstruction, and more. We work together every day to create and refine the services, tools and data that power HOVER’s offerings. You will contribute by: 

You will mentor and guide the professional and technical development of the members of the team, which includes frontend, backend, and fullstack engineers. You will partner with engineers and technical leaders to ensure that the applications we support are stable, scalable, and maintainable, promoting practices like CI/CD and refactoring. You can support the execution of a team of engineers working through maintaining services, building tools, and integrating novel algorithms into the 3D reconstruction process. You will collaborate and define cross-team and strategic initiatives in partnership with leads across the company.

Your background includes:  

  • 2+ years of experience leading teams
  • Passion for leading a rapidly growing, fast paced team
  • Experienced in leading and growing people both technically and professionally
  • Extensive, current experience (5+ years) architecting and building reliable, scalable, maintainable high-traffic Ruby on Rails applications
  • Extensive experience with testing, automation and CI tools
  • Great Product sense combined with strong technical communication skills and the ability to work effectively cross functionally with Product Managers, Designers and business stakeholders
