HOVER is looking for a seasoned leader for our Data and Product Analytics function. As the head of the department, you will empower the company to make better data driven decisions and you will leverage your expertise developing data as a product. You have previous experience recruiting for and developing teams, and are passionate about fostering high performance. You are seen as a trusted advisor and will be able to apply your influence across senior leaders of the organization as you propagate your team’s impact. While you mostly leverage your skill set via directing the work of others, you’re willing to roll up your sleeves and dig into a project on occasion. Your experience has helped you craft a vision for what data and product analytics can be and you seek to inspire your team through both technical knowledge and mission-driven values. 

The Data and Product Analytics team at HOVER is comprised of roughly a dozen data savvy professionals with comprehensive skill sets. From architects that craft complex frameworks and pipelines, scientists that develop models to support our understanding of both internal and external dynamics, to analysts that surface insights from user trends; our team is well-resourced to leverage HOVER’s wealth of internal information. You will contribute by:

In this role, you understand the importance of building an exceptional function and how to uplevel and promote the human capital at HOVER. Through your active engagement with talent networks and developmental resources, you will attract and retain a diverse, high caliber, output-oriented team. You will foster the internal reputation of the team with your involvement in cross-functional projects and company wide presentations. You will consistently build value for your department by championing their efforts and elevating data and business analytics from service orientated to being a strategic partner. You will help enable a data-driven culture of innovation, iteration, and ownership throughout all of HOVER. Through your subject matter expertise, you will ensure data architecture is scalable, repeatable, and secure. You will seek to improve data consistency and accuracy by streamlining the sources and frameworks by which information and sources of truth are derived. You and your team will shape a common language and shared methodology for deriving insights from data creating a unified voice at HOVER. As a senior leader for your department, you will manage the team’s vision and roadmap. You will partner with other cross-functional directors and executives to map goals and initiatives to larger company OKR’s and overall product strategy.  Ultimately, you will own both the long-term technical data strategy and the day-to-day operations, including fostering innovation and implementing best practices.

Your background includes:

  • 10+ years of advanced analytics, data science or data engineering experience
  • 5+ years of management experience in leading data & analytics teams with a successful track record in building teams, defining goals and overseeing execution
  • Hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining data science, and analytics products and capabilities
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, high growth environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; polished presenter to executive audiences
  • Experience solving business problems by turning raw data into actionable insights
  • Experience designing impactful KPIs and metrics to measure operational performance
  • Expertise with Business Intelligence/Data Visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau or others
  • Experience with cloud related technologies - Google Cloud preferred
  • Knowledge of data management and governance: data architecture, collection, storage (infrastructure), engineering and operations
  • A sincere, collaborative, and empathetic personality characterized by a strong inclination to be part of a team of doers
