Business Operations & Strategy Paid Internship - Summer 2021

HOVER uses patented technology making it possible for anyone with a smartphone camera to create an interactive 3D model, complete with detailed measurements and powerful design features. The data produced is extremely valuable as it generates a single source of truth for the physical world allowing for more veracity throughout the home improvement and insurance processes. The Business Operations & Strategy Team is a high performing team that stretches far beyond spreadsheets/slides and genuinely acts as change makers within HOVER. Working at the intersection of our different departments, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with everyone from Product to Sales to Engineering to Finance. 

Comfortable in ambiguity, you’ll thrive when figuring things out on the fly and you’ll get your energy from collaborating with a couple people to whiteboard a creative solution. You’ll synthesize insights across teams, sense-check what you’re hearing with back-of-the-envelope math, and be insatiably curious. You’ll be biased towards action and will iterate until things are looking good, but you’ll also know when things are ‘good enough’ and it’s time to move your focus elsewhere.

You will contribute by: 

When you join HOVER, you’ll be an integral part of some of our most impactful projects for the business. You will support the development of our GTM strategy for our expansion into new markets and/or use-cases. This will include conducting data-backed analyses, collaborating across teams to understand the target market, conducting external market research, and synthesizing a diverse set of inputs into a streamlined and digestible narrative in slides. In addition, you will contribute to broader team priorities, which include Business Operations (e.g., OKRs, Board of Directors, annual planning, investor relations & fundraising, company-wide communications, etc.) and Ad-Hoc Analyses (quick-and-dirty efforts including sizing the business impact of proposed product features, COVID-19 impact analysis, deep-diving into a peculiar trend we’ve been noticing within a customer segment, etc.).  

Your background includes:  

This internship is perfect for students who can commit to a 2-3 month internship this summer, are in their junior year (rising senior at time of internship),and have an aptitude for data driven problem solving. 

Preferred qualifications include: 

  • Understanding of general business topics
  • Familiarity with Excel
  • Ability to tell data-backed stories through slide decks (e.g., PowerPoint or Google Slides)
  • Eagerness to operate in an 80/20 mindset, ruthlessly prioritizing your time when there are far too many exciting and impactful things available to work on 
  • Problem solver with ability to leverage data driven insights as well as creative solutions 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
