Why HOVER wants you:

HOVER is looking for a strong engineering manager that is interested in shaping the evolution of the Foundation of HOVER. We are integrating complex systems and building novel tools and technology that allow for creative thinking and problem solving to help HOVER scale. 

The Foundation Team’s Mission is: make future changes easy, secure and reliable by providing a framework that allows HOVER’s evolving teams to deploy new products quickly and maintain interoperability with existing functionality.

The team is made up of talented and eager-to-learn engineers with a wide variety of experience across areas like application development, 3D reconstruction, and more. We work together daily to create and refine the services, tools and data that power HOVER’s offerings. Together, we have defined a set of values that drive our collaboration and the decisions we make together: 

  • Shared Ownership of all code: All wins are team wins. We collectively decide what "good enough" is through conversation/feedback/experimentation.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Avoid Silos. Code should be produced by people working together.
  • Future developers should be able to understand and change code without worry. Use testing to validate functionality and serve as documentation
  • Team processes are shared and open to improvement and feedback.

You will contribute by: 

 

You will mentor and guide the professional and technical development of the members of the team, which includes frontend, backend, and full-stack engineers. You will partner with engineers and technical leaders to ensure that the applications we support are stable, scalable, and maintainable, promoting practices like CI/CD and refactoring. You will support the execution of teams of engineers working through maintaining services, building tools, and integrating novel algorithms into the 3D reconstruction process. You will collaborate and define cross-team and strategic initiatives in partnership with leads across the company.

 

Your background includes:  

 

  • 2+ years of experience leading teams
  • Passion for leading a rapidly growing, fast-paced team
  • Experienced in leading and growing people both technically and professionally
  • Extensive, current experience (5+ years) architecting and building reliable, scalable, maintainable high-traffic Ruby on Rails applications
  • Extensive experience with testing, automation and CI tools
  • Great Product sense combined with strong technical communication skills and the ability to work effectively cross-functionally with Product Managers, Designers and business stakeholders
