Why Hover Wants You: 

HOVER is looking for a VP of Engineering to lead an advanced technical team as we continue to disrupt the home services industry. In this role you’ll be responsible for setting HOVER’s technical vision and empowering our organization to be engineering-driven. You will maintain the systems and teams that guarantee a smooth end-to-end release management process that reliably adds value to our end customers. You will ensure your division leaders communicate and deliver the standards, practices, and goals of the engineering organization so that every engineer and report knows how they can contribute.This role will report to the CEO and manage a team of roughly 100 software engineering professionals. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage a cross-platform engineering team, including a leadership team comprised of Directors and Senior Directors; inspire the team and coach them toward the achievement our business goals
  • Build processes and systems that are repeatable and scalable so that we can grow beyond where we are today
  • Consistently raise the bar of our team; Build and scale a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration and customer empathy
  • Work alongside the executive team to set cross-company goals and drive teams toward completing them 
  • Contribute to the development of our roadmap with a focus on innovation, customer experience and building the largest structured, spatial data set on the planet.  

Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of product development experience at companies of a  similar growth stage to HOVER and beyond
  • 5+ years of people management experience and experience managing other leaders
  • A successful track record of people-focused leadership of multi-disciplinary teams (product engineering, platform engineering, and/or machine learning engineering)
  • Experience setting hiring goals and driving overall technical recruitment; ideally someone who has seen a company grow from ~200-1000 employees. 
  • Previous experience scaling engineering teams through hyper-growth in a variety of B2B and B2C environments, ideally in a pre-IPO stage. 
  • Strong software design instincts and ability to connect our technical strategy and development to our business goals 
  • Adept at cross-functional collaboration and roadmap ownership; ability to influence company decision making and buy in

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $300,000 - $350,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
