The role

As a Principal Designer at Hover, you will have a direct impact on business and product decisions. You will work on high impact projects leading teams and focus on the customers' experience. You are a taste maker that will work on new ideas and untouched territory to pave the way for what's to come. You will work across multiple teams, playing a critical role in crystalizing projects vision and strategy.

What you bring

  • 8+ years of experience designing consumer products
  • Proven ability to lead and manage complicated projects across different functions
  • You can think at a high level about product strategy and vision
  • Experience solving and identifying complex, ambiguous design problems
  • You are obsessed with the design and know that every detail matter at every stage of the product development process
  • You can bring work to life by prototyping
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter attitude with no problem adapting or flexing daily
  • Experience defining processes that improve the quality of the work
  • Experience working and collaborating with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid growth environment
  • Extensive experience closely partnering with product managers to develop the strategy and rationale for features
  • Extensive experience with prototyping as a means to explore and convey design solutions
  • An interest in, and passion for AR and 3D
  • Master craftsmanship
  • You don't see the difference between UI/UX you design end to end

What you’ll do

  • You are a systematic thinker that can scale solutions that are elegant and delightful You will raise the bar on design quality across the org
  • You will have rein to identify and execute on opportunities for Hover, with close collaboration with design leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Break down large ambiguous problems into simple solutions while executing from concept through completion
  • Influence product strategy to shape the direction of the company through design
  • Lead a team of Designers and Writers through ideation, concepting, detailed design, prototyping (we don't present here), and final delivery
  • Synthesize product and business goals into user-centric design solutions across multiple products and experiences
  • Work with the product and engineering teams to drive design vision and strategy for admin users
  • Partner cross-functionally with product and engineering leadership to represent the design team, lead design initiatives and provide feedback in planning and product channels
  • Work with designers across product teams and lead broad, organizational-wide initiatives, such as improving Hovers design system
  • Recruit and interview designers, and actively improve our inclusive design hiring process

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $167,000-$246,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
