Nearly all of the top 10 property insurance carriers rely on Hover to handle interior or exterior claims with a single, smartphone-driven solution.
When it came time for this leading carrier to choose an interior measurement solution, they started with a pilot in 2024. The plan? Outfit dozens of their adjusters with Hover’s interior measurement solution and compare results from Hover against their alternative methods.
The Proof Was in the Pilot
For this carrier, in their pilot, adjusters used Hover across 100 interior spaces. After rigorous testing comparing Hover’s measurements and sketches to the outputs and from their other methods, this top-10 carrier was convinced: Hover’s accuracy was spot on and the ease of getting the needed property data won over adjusters. After the carrier completed additional internal ROI analysis, Hover was decidedly a preferred partner to improve their claims workflow. The choice to switch to Hover was made.
Unmatched Accuracy
The carrier found Hover’s measurements to be exceptionally precise when benchmarked against their most senior adjusters:
- Floor Areas: 97.74% accurate
Delta vs. adjusters’ alternative method: 2.26% - Wall Areas: 96.73% accurate
Delta vs. adjusters’ alternative method: 3.27%
Time Saved
Achieving this level of accuracy didn’t require extra effort from field staff, nor did the adjusters have to do manual drawing of floor plans or other interior elements themselves. Instead, adjusters completed inspections as they did their walkthrough of the damaged property with a simple scan using their existing smartphones. It was fast and often collected more comprehensive data than their traditional approach. For example, for one project, Hover’s solution delivered exact ceiling height and cabinet layouts, data that otherwise would have been estimated or omitted. In other cases, cabinet measurements and their locations were delivered in the sketch by Hover but not included in the alternate drawing.
User Satisfaction & Preference
The carrier allows their staff adjusters to choose from the approved tools available to them for an inspection. After being exposed to Hover during the pilot, adjusters expressed their preference with a steady rise in Hover use for interior losses that continued to grow each month. With its intuitive, guided workflows, Hover made fieldwork easier and became the solution of choice in their adjusters’ day-to-day work.
Results Drive Product Adoption
Between the positive adjuster feedback and an internal analysis that determined Hover’s positive ROI, the carrier committed to a larger investment in Hover for interior claims. Once the carrier introduced Hover as a preferred tool for adjusters more broadly, elective use skyrocketed to over 15,000 interior claim projects a quarter.
The pilot took place in quarter 1, after which the carrier’s adjusters self-selected Hover for Interior claims at a growing rate; a 149% increase in the first quarter and a 1,110% change YoY.
With adjuster adoption of Hover delivering measurable impact for this top insurer, the company continues to roll out new Hover features, including VW for LiDAR and VW embedded into Xactimate. Carrier representatives are also planning to work with Hover to launch Hover’s new Virtual Walkthrough across their adjuster base.
