      Selling more, from the roof on down

      Philip relies on Hover to help his team create more accurate quotes and avoid the mistakes that often occur when sales reps rush to get an order in at the end of the day. Quotes that used to take an hour now take minutes. “I’m probably saving 10 minutes or more on every roof order – a big deal when you multiply that saved time by 700 roofs,” adds Philip.

      Hover has also played a key role in their ability to sell more. While the majority of their leads come in through residential roofing jobs, they’re using Hover to upsell. “Customers typically call us for the roof,” explains Philip. “Chances are if their roof is 15 to 20 years old, the house exterior is too. Using Hover’s design tools, we can show them what their dream home can look like and get them excited to do more.”

      Using the photos and measurements captured in Hover at the initial sales call, Philip and his team build out a series of proposal packages – from a basic roof replacement to a full exterior remodel. With Hover’s 3D design tool, any sales rep can show the prospective customer a series of renderings, adding in extras like new windows, doors, masonry, structures and more. The best part? Using Hover’s Material List, the sales rep can generate multiple, comprehensive quotes based on each design option – allowing the customer to actually see all the options and fully assess the cost to achieve them. 

       

      Building in efficiency at every stage of the production process

      In addition to helping the sales team upsell, Hover has accelerated D’Angelo’s entire production process – from material lists to takeoffs to orders and installation.

      “Hover helps our sales reps get as good at estimating materials as an installer who’s been in the business for 20 years,” brags Philip. Using Hover’s material list templates that have been customized to D’Angelo’s preferences and rates, each sales rep can generate a full material list for every trade with everything each team needs to complete the job.

      The production manager pulls up the material list in Hover and in two clicks has the complete takeoff. Once everything is approved, the project manager quickly exports a PDF that is emailed to the supplier. Materials are ordered and the crew is lined up – all of which is done in a day, with a drastically reduced margin of error.

      “We used to do all our material lists by hand with pen and paper,” explains Philip. “We’d type out the order and send it via email. Using Hover, we’ve eliminated those opportunities for error.” The only time Philip ever has to calculate estimates manually is if a job has things that fall outside of their standard rate sheet.

       

      Using Hover to Grow their New Construction Business

      As D’Angelo continues to grow its business, Philip knows Hover will be right there with them – starting with new construction. “We’ve been using Hover for so long and are just realizing the impact it can have with new construction,” explains Philip. “It used to take me 2 to 3 hours to do a takeoff from a blueprint, now it takes minutes.” 

      Philip admits he now spends less time generating a takeoff from a blueprint for new construction than running Hover on an exterior renovation. As with renovations, he can customize the lists to their specifications – for example, Canadian winters often dictate using a double ice and water shield.
